Mellon Honored by Brooklyn College Alumni Association
with its Distinguished Achievement Award In The Arts

Marc was honored with the Distinguished Achievement Award In The Arts. He was introduced by esteemed collegue (and wife) Babette Bloch. Mellon was lauded for his work. "Marc's work is about aesthetics, balance, harmony, beauty, strength, and humanity- in the best sense. He believes in community, family, love, friendship, and making a difference."

The plaque ( pictured left) reads: "In recognition of his total commitment to the betterment of our community through his many professional activities during his distinguished career as Sculptor, President Ex-Officio of the Artists' Fellowship, Inc., Member of the National Arts Club, Vice President of the Alexander and Brenda R. Tanger Hillel, and for the great honor he has brought to the name of Brooklyn College.
The artist was pleased to be seated with Brooklyn College President Christoph Kimmich and with legendary scholar in Holocaust studies, Yaffa Eliach, and other dignitaries.
Mellon graduated from Brooklyn College in 1974 with a degree in Fine Arts. His remarks in acceptance were devoted to the faculty who helped him focus on the arts.
